Liv is a great weekend. You come and you get away in a four star property. “With the pandemic it has brought this event to fruition even faster than we had first planned. The event was planned for 2021 but the market has allowed us to look at it earlier. Within every storm there is a silver lining. We think our community and our market is ready for this event. Marketing & Communications Coordinator De Carla Applewhaite the event hopes to bring a sense of enjoyment to those who attend. “We always talk about I live where you vacation but do we ever take in what it really means to holiday and enjoy Barbados. We are in a situation with the ‘COVID times’ that is restricting travel. “We aren’t actually going overseas to do what people would do as their annual holiday, be it shopping or just a full holiday. So this an opportunity to provide a full weekend break where people can be out and also get a sense of enjoyment and a change of pace. “It is a girl’s weekend, it’s a boy’s weekend, it’s a couple’s getaway, and it’s an adult’s only experience. You can make a good weekend of it and feel like you had holiday. “This is a diversification of the event sector. Tourism has in the past looked out but at this time is now looking in.” Applewhaite said. Sales & Marketing Manager Ocean Two Resorts Jacqui McDermott said that Ocean Two saw the event as a great way to signal to the world that they are opened for business. “We were actually going to officially open on the 24th but when we were approached by Orlando we said that we would open a week early to allow for the event. That gave them the opportunity for them to have the whole place as opposed to us having bookings already. “We also thought it was a great opportunity to be able to tell the world that Ocean Two and Barbados is back in business,” she said. The national COVID-19 protocols will be implemented and those in attendance are expected to adhered to them. Newton said: “We want it to be a luxury event so we are restricting the numbers to allow for that physical distancing. It will also allow for that luxury experience. If you don’t book early you are not getting in.” The packages for the novel weekend start at $595BBD per person.
