The 48-year-old Reifer beat out four other candidates and was selected by the Executive Council and the General Council, which met at the DLP’s George Street headquarters tonight. He will replace Jepter Ince who contested the 2018 election for the DLP. It sets up an interesting showdown against the Barbados Labour Party’s (BLP) candidate, general secretary of the Barbados Workers’ Union Toni Moore. A date for the by-election has yet to be announced by Prime Minister Mia Mottley.
