A 19-year-old was remanded to HMP Dodds after appearing on gun-related charges today.

Teo Tyrique Squires of Gall Hill, St John was not required to plead to the charges of having a firearm and four rounds of ammunition without a valid licence on September 30, 2020. He also faces an additional charge that he took a Toyota Auris for his own use, without the consent of the owner or other lawful authority.

Squires, however, pleaded guilty to having no insurance and driver’s licence on the same date.

According to the facts, police responded to a report of an accident along Hastings Main Road near to Hastings Towers. Squires was in the driver’s seat and had to be extracted by fire officers and then transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. On October 2, he was kept in police custody. He was convicted, reprimanded and discharged on those matters.

He was remanded by Magistrate Ian Weekes until November 2, 2020. The matter was heard in the No. 3 District “A” Magistrates’ Court.
