#BTColumn – The fake left in the US

If there was a true Left, as opposed to a fake Left, in the United States, you would know.

First, a true Left would stand up against US and global imperialism. Against those permanent wars against the peoples, lands and communities of Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, South East Asia, and occasionally, the Caribbean.

Coups, destabilization, CIA-backed assassinations, interventions, the backing of terrorists and paramilitary groups against democratic governments, the dropping of hundreds of thousands of bombs in jungles, padi fields, huts; and chemical warfare, Agent Orange and white phosphorous, Drone warfare and biological warfare. Right under the noses of the world, wars and terror gospelled and smoothened over, like the old Church, by the mainstream media.

Second, a true Left would repudiate and denounce with all the atomic energy of a consolidated voice the axis of evil, Obama, Hillary Clinton and the Bushes.

It is they who destroyed Iraq in the 1990s. And it is Obama, who, after being awarded the Nobel Prize in his first days in office, extended Drone Warfare in Pakistan, ratcheted up the war in Iraq, converted hundreds of Syrian cities into dustbowls and white sepulchres, invaded and assassinated the Pan African leader Muammar Gadhafi, and extended the Afghan war.
They killed over four million persons and created a refugee crisis in Europe.

It was the new administration of Donald Trump together with the Russians who had to intercede to rescue Obama in his sodden, stinky Adidas Stan Smith sneakers.

Third, the true left would call out the global US war-machine that makes all such wars possible.

The US ruling-classes are never at peace, until they are at war.

Like an addict, they pace the floor, hungering, missing something. What is it? An irrepressible historical mania for war, sadism, enslavement.

Trump will never be left alone unless he declares war against some poor Third World State. Until he has sent back
the troops, cruise missiles and tanks into those places where he has stopped war.

Then you will see the mainstream media, the hardcore Republican and Democratic parties, the Senate and Congress light up.

Succour, a deep and glowing euphoria. Nothing gets their dander up like: the Leader of the Free World, Pivot to China, War on Terror, the International Community, the Axis of Evil, Who is Not With Us is Against Us.

Fourth, the true Left would abide by the Second Amendment. It would “bear arms”, not against each other, not against mainstreet and shopfronts, but, as the Constitution intended, against overreach by the State, the Federal Government.

It would wage unrelenting war against the unelected owners of the elected: the owners of the Senate and Congress, of the media, of the corporate military complex, big pharma.

It would “bear arms”, not against the corner-shops, but against the failure of the Emancipation accord with Africans; one hundred and fifty years after the promises of Abraham Lincoln, after the Civil War in the 1860’s, Africans are still fighting for civil rights on the street!

Fifth, the true Left would denounce to the utmost, from Trinidad to Timbuktu, the imprisonment of Wikileaks leader, founder and journalist, Julian Assange.

He is in a British jail, after facing seven years of house arrest in London, for doing what the fake mainstream media failed to do, that is, expose the system of US/British global surveillance; and war atrocities in the Middle East and North Africa.

He published confidential cables, videos, sent to him, showing what the Whitehouse podium generals, in the midst of war, are sent to smoothen over, hide, disinform on.

The Fake Left shouts, denounces in the most fiery of terms, but fails to act. It is mimic. “Hezbullah!” it cries, with arm raised. But if you ask Fake Left to move a log from point A to B, it first bends, examines it, hefts it, rubs its nose, whimpers, runs home to mummy, hides under the bed.

“Socialism or Death”, it cries. “Viva Che!” But if you ask Fake Left to come for 6 a.m., he comes for 9 a.m.

“We will overcome”, cries Fake Left, but if you ask him for a dollar to buy a doubles, for the cause, he searches in his right pocket, searches in his left, decides that he has no pocket.

A smoke, a strategy meeting, a placard, a protest, then it is back at home to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter!

The Fake Left is an arm of the Manichean arm of power seeded inside the US deep state. The neo-Nazi impulse. The Gestapo, CNN, BBC, MSNBC, FOX, ABC, which has duped and befuddled the moderates/liberals of the planet, until they do not know Right from Left, right from wrong.

All this will lead to war. When Trump demits office in 2024, their irrepressible urge to war will surface. They will once more militarily pivot to China, the Middle East, North Africa, North East Asia, and make war.

There is an authentic Left in the USA, but it has been rendered voiceless and poor-me-one by the noise of Fake Left.

Noise has taken the place of political action. And just as, at the end of George Orwell’s novel on tyranny, Animal Farm, the narrator could not tell the difference between the new revolutionaries, the pigs, and the old master, man; so it is impossible to tell the difference between the Fake Left and the Right.
