The ceremony, which was held yesterday at the Presidential Palace at Revolutions Square in Havana, accredited St. Hill as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Barbados to the Republic of Cuba. On his arrival at the Palace, Ambassador St. Hill was accorded a general salute by members of the Cuban military band, during which the National Anthems of both countries were played. Following that, Ambassador St. Hill had a brief audience with President Diaz-Canel, who was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodriquez Parrilla. In welcoming Ambassador St. Hill to Cuba, President Diaz-Canel made reference to the longstanding strong and friendly relations that have existed between Barbados and Cuba, especially since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in December of 1972. Ambassador St. Hill stated that Barbados also highly values its relations with Cuba and is always willing to undertake initiatives that would enhance it.
