This promise came from Minister of Tourism Senator Lisa Cummins as she spoke to British media personnel, British Airways agents and hotel executives during an evening soiree held at the pristine Villa Tamarindo on the West Coast. Senator Cummins, who thanked British Airways for resuming the new flight to the island over the weekend, said it was important for visitors to know the island was open for travel, with the highest level of health security being in place. “This is not an easy time. It’s challenging for everyone around the world, and we are watching people navigate. We want to make sure as we work with all of you in the tour industry and media, that we send the message that Barbados is open for business, and it is open for business safely. “We are enforcing the protocols, because that helps us to keep you safe. We are very proud that we are still that country where there is no local transmission, and no community spread. As long as we have that double testing in Barbados, once you arrive, you have that quarantine. That helps to keep you safe and guarantee [that] you are going to enjoy your vacation,” she said. Cummins underlined the Government’s intent on continuing to stay true to the COVID-19 protocols but also added that the relationship between the island and visitors has been one built on trust. We trust each other that we will all be sanitizing all the time. We trust each other that you will also not be looking forward to… being in a hospital environment, but be able to enjoy yourself while you are here. We are going to make sure that we can offer you all of that in one package right here in Barbados,” Cummins insisted.
