Scholarship recipients are full time SJPI students, currently enrolled in one-year certificate or two-year diploma programs. The scholarship recipients will each receive $1, 000 per academic year for one year. Two-year diploma students have an option to apply again for 2nd year funding. The scholarship recipients are: Electrical Installation – Jaythan Hart, Ibriel Holder and Benjamin Bourne. Speaking at the awards ceremony held on Monday at the Samuel Jackman Prescod Institute of Technology Auditorium, Guidance Officer of SJPI Shawna Clarke told the audience that 107 applications were received over the three-week campaign. A screening questionnaire was then used to shortlist 30 applicants for the face-to-face interview. Chairman of the Board of the Barbados National Oil Company Alex McDonald charged the students with care, pride, vision, industry, passion, to be the best, to make the most and to pay it back and pay it forward. At the end of the academic year, the top two performing scholarship recipients will receive internships at BNOCL. The recipients all expressed their gratitude to BNOCL and SJPI for the opportunity.
