Local News More heavy rains coming by Barbados Today 04/11/2020 written by Barbados Today Updated by Stefon Jordan 04/11/2020 1 min read A+A- Reset Share FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 360 Heavy rains over the past week that have left several communities across Barbados still waterlogged appear set to return this weekend. In a weather information statement issued today, the Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) served early notice that while fair to sunny conditions which resumed on Monday will last for most of the week, conditions will change by Sunday. “The Barbados Meteorological Services is forecasting a slow transition on Saturday, 7th November, 2020 into another wet event starting from Sunday, 8th November, 2020 which will continue into the week. This event is forecast to bring occasional moderate to heavy showers to Barbados as a series of troughs are expected to affect the region during that period,” it said. The BMS explained that it is still the peak of an active rainy season and days of excessive rainfall across the island should therefore be expected. Although stressing that the weather statement was not a warning or watch, the BMS noted that due to already saturated areas around the island, flooding was more likely to occur with the additional rains. It urged residents to repair any leaking roofs and ensure drains are not clogged and gutters are kept free and clear of debris ahead of the inclement weather.
