Two brothers who allegedly caused “a ruckus” at Channell Enterprises Limited  won’t get to enjoy any of the items they purchased from the supermarket this holiday season.

The 47-year-old twin – Shon Sherwin Boyce and Dennis Richard Boyce – carwashers from No. 12 George Street, Belleville, St Michael were remanded to Dodds today until January 20.

The two are accused of failing to leave the supermarket’s premises on December 22 after they were directed to do so by Ronald Catlyn, a person authorised by the owner.

Shon is separately charged with assaulting Catlyn and Karen Arthur causing them actual bodily harm on the same date. He is further accused of committing the same offence against Richard Boyce on two separate occasions that day.

The two pleaded not guilty to the charges which led Police Constable Paul Prescod to object to bail.

The prosecutor said that Shon is on bail from another magistrates’ court and part of his $2,500 bail condition, which was signed by his brother Dennis was for him to reside at Gemswick, St Philip but the charge sheets show that he was back at the St Michael address where he had been warned not to venture and thereby breaching the bail condition.

Prescod further submitted that based on the nature and seriousness of the charges the two allegedly acted together. He said there were fears that Shon would re-offend and there was need to protect society. He also told the court that several persons were allegedly injured.

Accused Shon told Chief Magistrate Ian Weeks the address on the charge sheets was “only given because I only went to the house on the day … for groceries”.

“That is the first time I went to that place,” he added referring to the supermarket.

In his application for bail Dennis said, “He doesn’t live at my address. Yes, I signed bail for Shon. Yes he came over to George Street. That is my fault. It did not cross my mind. At some point in time you does forget.”
