Giving back to Barbadians remains a high priority for Banks Holdings Limited (“BHL”) and its subsidiaries.

This pledge was made during a recent donation to the Eden Lodge Youth Charitable Trust’s Annual Back to School programme.

“At BHL we believe that our greatest strength is our people and we believe that extends to the people of Barbados as well,” said Anya Frederick, public relations and communications officer at BHL.

“Corporate social responsibility is of major importance to us, so we aim to support projects and initiatives that provide help to communities across the island, especially those hit hardest from the effects of the global pandemic.”

Dwayne Grazette, president and chief executive officer of the Trust, was happy with the company’s donation to the programme, which provides relief for many marginalized and underprivileged primary and secondary school students across Barbados.

The contribution would assist in purchasing school uniforms and shoes, backpacks, textbooks, stationery supplies and provide payment towards the textbook loan scheme and petty fees. This charitable act follows in the path of various initiatives the beverage conglomerate and its subsidiaries executed in 2020.

It first launched with its One Heart Initiative, which donated groceries and other essential items to frontline healthcare workers stationed at isolation centres across the island, then followed with its Safe Shop initiative, through a variety of brands produced and distributed by BHL, which provided sanitizing stations, masks, gloves, floor decals and sneeze frames, to over 110 bars and restaurants across the island.

Through the Pine Hill Dairy (PHD), it contributed to a joint project between the Barbados Agricultural Society and Barbados Beef and Dairy Producers Association, which imported 159 pregnant heifers to help guarantee the sustainability of the local dairy industry.

PHD also executed the Give Back Twin Packs campaign which donated $10,000 BBD to The Rotary Club of Barbados South’s Back to School Service Project.

“Our aim for 2021 is to continue to contribute to a better Barbados,” Frederick said.

“And we wantto achieve that by pouring into the people that support us.” (PR)
