The Barbados Entrepreneurship and Tourism Association (BETA), an association aimed at building a dynamic and resilient community among persons engaged in the shared economy and accommodation sector in the tourism and hospitality industry, recently made a presentation to the Barbados Government of twelve twin bedsheet sets, twenty-five pillows, four hundred and eight 16 oz bottles of Glacier Pure water and six 43” Westpoint Smart Televisions. These are to be used at the
Harrison Point facility

The donation was made possible by generous monetary contributions from members of BETA, in addition to friends of members and suppliers associated with BETA’s exclusive membership discount card.

“When our association of 90 strong property owners and property managers heard of the challenges being faced by Harrison Point, we were deeply moved to mobilise and assist our valued local community and visitors to our island who are and will become clients of the facility,” a BETA release noted.

Dr. Corey Forde, manager of the isolation facility at Harrison Point, received and thanked BETA on behalf of all at the facility.

“The board and management of the QEH and medical staff of the isolation facilities would like to express our sincere thanks for these tremendous donations during these difficult and unprecedented times in Barbados.

“These donations will go an extremely long way in improving patient comfort and also aid in improving the mental status of patients. We are eternally grateful given our recent challenges and encourage Barbadians to respect the new devices and contributions while continuing to contribute towards the fight of COVID-19,” he said.

BETA noted it intended to continue contributing through advocacy and affirmative action to ensure the resilience of the tourism industry.

The association added it would also continue to work hand in hand with the Barbadian community to always offer hospitality and enhance local and visitor experiences.

“BETA deeply appreciates the hard work of the Government, in conjunction with the Ministry of Health, BAMP and all frontline workers to stem the spread of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

“We wish to thank our members, friends of members and our sponsors, Massy Stores (Barbados) Ltd., Glacier Pure Water, World Wide Bedding and Shoppers’ Paradise, without whom these donations would not have been made possible,” the release concluded.  (PR)
