A flash-flood warning is in effect for northern and north-eastern sections of Barbados.

In a bulletin issued at 1:50 p.m., the Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) said it issued the warning for the parish of St Andrew after the parish was affected by moderate to heavy showers during the early hours of this morning and early afternoon.

The forecasters have advised residents and visitors to expect significant runoffs from higher elevations, soil erosion on exposed land surfaces, large water settlements on lands and fields and flooding at the foot of hillsides and coastal roads.

The BMS said the warning will be updated at 6 p.m., or sooner if necessary.
