Officers of the Barbados Fire Service are still on the ground at Colonnade Mall, the City, and have verified that the flames, from this morning’s fire, have been extinguished.

“There were no reports of injury and the damage has been described as minor,” according to Police Public Relations Officer Acting Inspector Rodney Inniss.

Police are also at the scene of the building situated along Broad Street at its junction with Prince William Street, Bridgetown, St Michael.

Three fire tenders and 14 personnel headed by the Acting Chief Fire Officer Henderson Patrick responded and extinguished a fire in an area where it initial started. However, the volume of smoke in the building and surrounding buildings had to be investigated and extracted.

Police have implemented traffic management measures including the diversion of both vehicular and pedestrian traffic travelling along Prince William Henry Street and upper Broad Street.
