Minister of Health Lt Col Jeffrey Bostic is not at all impressed with the memes and comments circulating on social media about the quality of service at Harrison Point.

During a press briefing on Saturday, Bostic described the virtual attack on the staff at Harrison Point as “toxic, disgusting and hurtful,” and called on those responsible to put an end to it.

“I urge my fellow Barbadians to resent that kind of information when it comes to you. Do not forward it. And please, send some love and some kind greetings to the staff at Harrison Point because they are working and operating on your behalf and on behalf of this nation,” Bostic said.

The Minister of Health said that the professionals who made the brave decision from the start of the pandemic in 2020 to go on the front line and manage the isolation facilities deserve nothing but respect for their dedication and service.

He said the professionals are ably led by world-class infection specialist Dr Corey Forde.

Bostic said: “These people have given their all to Barbados and I salute today all of the front-line workers and all of the essential workers. And these workers come from across Government and across sectors, private and public.

“I am speaking specifically to those at Harrison Point, they have saved several lives. There are thousands of persons who have been to Harrison Point, and have spoken highly not only of the environment and the facilities but the level of service that has been administered”.

Bostic said for every one negative comment making the rounds on social media about the quality of service at Harrison Point, there are approximately 10 to 15 emails from persons locally and abroad speaking highly about the quality and service at the facility.

He said: “And so it is my duty and responsibility to say to my staff at Harrison Point, have no fear, you have the full support of the Minister and staff at the Ministry of Health and Wellness, and the Prime Minister and the Government and people of Barbados.

“And we urge you not to be weary in this fight, understand that we are here with you, we believe in you, we appreciate everything that you are doing, and we are supporting you to continue what you are doing”. (AH)
