Man accused of torching woman’s home remains on remand

Alleged arsonist Jermaine Ramon Williams remains on remand at Dodds for another 28 days.

The 35-year-old from Durants Village, St James, reappeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Wanda Blair on Tuesday and was given an October 19 return date after the prosecution again objected to him being granted bail.

Williams is accused of damaging the home of Nicole Darlington by fire on July 10 intending to destroy or damage such property or was reckless as to whether such property would be damaged; and intending the destruction of or damage of the said house by fire to endanger the life of Peter Vaughn or was reckless as to whether his life would be endangered.

The accused has not been able to plead to the charge since his first appearance before the District ‘D’ Magistrates’ Court in July as the offence is indictable.
