There were 651 people in isolation. Of these, 480 patients (74 per cent) were unvaccinated, and 91 (14 per cent) were fully vaccinated. Three of the fully vaccinated patients who were in primary isolation were in need of care, one was in secondary and the other 87 were in tertiary isolation. Thirty-three persons, two in primary, one in secondary and 30 in tertiary isolation, were partially vaccinated for COVID-19. There were 47 persons in tertiary isolation whose status was unknown. Primary and secondary isolation for COVID-19 patients in Barbados is units that accommodate those who are very ill and need close monitoring and treatment with primary isolation housing the most severely ill. Meanwhile, tertiary isolation houses patients who are only mildly ill or not showing illness. It is important to note that the number of persons in isolation is fluid and changes throughout the day as persons are admitted and discharged.
