Share FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 162 LONDON – On his first official day on the job, the CEO of Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc (BTMI) Jens Traenhart has been inducted into the World Tourism Network’s (WTN) Hall of International Tourism Heroes for demonstrating “extraordinary leadership” in the industry. The BTMI head was presented with his award by Chairman of WTN Juergen Steinmetz, at the World Travel Market on Monday, where he is currently attending his first WTM as a member of the Barbados delegation, led by Minister of Tourism and International Transport Lisa Cummins. Proudly accepting the award, Traenhart said he was proud to be with “beautiful Barbados”. Traenhart said: “It is such an honour to be selected as a hero. And just yesterday I was still officially with Mekong Tourism, and today I am with beautiful Barbados. “I was in Beijing, and then I was in Bangkok, and Barbados was a natural choice. So, I am very honoured and excited to be in Barbados.” The Hall of International Tourism Heroes recognizes those that have shown extraordinary leadership, innovation and actions. Steinmetz said: “He is not only here alone. He brings his Minister the Honourable Lisa Cummins with him and the director of tourism. So, he is here in full force waving the Barbados flag.
