Barbados records 197 new cases of COVID-19

The number of new COVID-19 positive cases recorded on Friday, November 19, was 197 – 97 females and 100 males.  The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory conducted 1,611 tests.

The new cases consist of 42 persons under the age of 18, and 155 who were 18 years and older.

There were 854 people in isolation facilities, and 7,664 in home isolation.

No deaths were recorded on Friday, so the total number of people who have died from the virus, as at November 19, is 206.

Barbados’ confirmed cases of COVID-19 have reached 23,623 (11,312 males and 12,311 females).

The public health laboratory has carried out 423,497 tests since February last year.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of persons with at least one dose is 152,592 (66.8 per cent of the eligible population).

The total number of people who are fully vaccinated is 133,226 (49.5 per cent of the total population or 58.8 per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents those persons who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
