Kiwanis Club of Barbados South is seeking to improve the lives of children at isolation facilities in Barbados, and they have proven that they will.

The club has handed over 110 gifts to the Harrison Point Isolation Facility for distribution to the children.

Assistant district administrator, Caribbean Atlantic District Key Club International, Zelma Daisley, said the presentation was a collaboration between the Division III, K-Kids and Kiwanis Club of Barbados South.

“We decided that we would donate activity and other books to the children. We have a total of 110 gifts, among them activity and colouring books, pens, pencils, crayons, markers – you name it, they are in those boxes. The K-Kids of St Paul’s Primary School, St Giles Primary School, St Martin Mangrove Primary and Warrens Primary all donated. The highlight of the presentation is that St Paul’s Primary donated their items in the sizable plastic container,” she said.

Client relations officer at the Harrison Point Facility, Dr Nicholas Ifill, received the donation and said it was timely and should help with the holistic wellness of the persons who have to spend Christmas in their facility.

“We want to thank Kiwanis Club of Barbados South, K-Kids, all the primary and secondary schools who would have contributed to the Harrison Point Isolation Facility. I know it is Christmas, and it is the season of joy, hope, and happiness.

This contribution would help create some Christmas cheer for all the patients and children. I am sure it would go a long way and it is very much appreciated and I want to encourage all Barbadians to continue to give.

This is not only a trying time but a time to show love to all mankind regardless of the situation,” he said.

President of the Kiwanis Club of Barbados South, Deanzer Robert, said the project was dear to the heart of Zelma Daisley and the Key Clubbers, and she was pleased that the organization could bring some smiles to the faces of persons undergoing treatment at the facility.

Lieutenant Governor of the Caribbean Atlantic District Key Club International, Destini Cummings, presented a token of appreciation to Dr Ifill.

“I would like to donate this box of face masks to be given to staff as a token of appreciation for what you have been doing for the past 24 months,” she said.
