Richard Green, the former Deputy General Secretary, was chosen as the new General Secretary over veteran trade unionist Wayne Walrond following an hours-long meeting of the National Council at the union’s Dalkeith, St Michael, headquarters. Green and Walrond were the only two candidates who applied to fill the post of General Secretary.
