But Weekes claimed that based on “certain things” that had happened before and after the December 26, 2020 incident, “I really don’t want to accept the apology.” In the facts read by Sergeant Shane Chase, the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court heard that Weekes was in the carpark of a variety store in Fairfield, Black Rock, St Michael waiting on a friend when Blackman approached him and said, “Big man I duh want to talk to you ever since.” Blackman then grabbed Weekes’ shirt, which resulted in a struggle, during which the complainant was cuffed in the ribs and hit in the back of the head with a rock. Blackman then fled the scene. Explaining his injuries to Magistrate Manila Renee, the complainant, who said he had received several stitches to the head, revealed that he spent a few weeks suffering with aches and pains. The convicted man, who is previously known to the court, was also placed on a bond to keep the peace and be of good behaviour for the next six months. If he breaches the order he will have to pay the court $1 500 in one week or spend one month in jail. “You can’t go about behaving like that . . . you have to act in a more responsible manner,” Magistrate Renee told Blackman as she handed down the sentence.
