Wounding accused Makeda Amena Mayers made her first appearance before the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

The 33-year-old general worker from Dr Kerr Land, Hindsbury Road, St Michael is alleged to have unlawfully and maliciously wounded Shania Lashley with intent to maim, disfigure and disable her or to do some serious bodily harm to her on October 25, 2021.

The accused was not required to plead to the indictable charge.

While there was no objection to bail, Station Sergeant Vernon Waithe requested that the accused stay away from the complainant until the matter is adjudicated.

Magistrate Manila Renee granted Mayers bail in the sum of $5 000 which she secured with one surety and transferred her matter to the District ‘A’ Traffic Court for February 15.
