NewsOpinion #BTSpeakingOut – Lay the first building block by Barbados Today 04/03/2022 written by Barbados Today Updated by Asminnie Moonsammy 04/03/2022 2 min read A+A- Reset Share FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 220 Reports which surface from time to time of so-called anti-social behaviours in and out of schools and in society at large have often brought forth condemnation from all the righteous and the holier-than-thou. I am neither suggesting for a moment that those who speak out do not have the right to do so nor am I applauding the negative behaviours. But sometimes we forget that we can’t cast the first stone, because… We have all sinned either in thought, word or deed. Some anti-social behaviours may have started through experimentation which then became a habit. Maybe the need to seek another path may have been a ‘cry for help or even for attention’, or as the result of some childhood hurt inflicted, perhaps unknowingly, by a family member, or indeed just because it felt good. We who live in the flesh should not forget that there are carnal appetites and feelings some of which may be easier to control than others. So, let us not cast the first stone lest it bounces back and strikes us in our own carnal past. So, do we do nothing? Not at all, for I believe change is possible through empathetic counseling for the children and the parents and sincere prayer. Sincere prayer, neither fear nor condemnatory based, where we extol our own virtue and ask for healing of the other “sick” person because we really should not cast the first stone. But you know every stone in Barbados can be overturned by an earthquake of change or we can also be washed by a tsunami – of heartfelt prayer. Yes, I believe that this country can be so changed spiritually that it will be akin to those two natural events. For just as the disciples thought the house was shaking, on what we now celebrate as Pentecost Day, so too this country can be shaken to become a leader in the transformation of behaviours and spiritual attitudes through the same means which completely changed those men and women at that time. You ask, by what means? There is a simple yet effective way. Each of us has to start with ourselves. Three times a day for one month ask the Heavenly Father, not ‘the son’, for the inflowing of His Divine Love/healing energy into your soul… into your soul. You may devise any simple, sincere, and heartfelt prayer, just place one hand two or three inches above the navel and feel the sincerity of the prayers. You, especially the parents or guardians, will have to teach the younger ones to ask for the inflowing of that Love. Note that I am not advocating the use of those prayers which we say by recitation. Thus, you become the one(s) to lay the first building blocks for the transformation of Barbados’ society, today. Hallelujah! And continue your prayers. Amen.
