#BTSpeakingOut – Barbadians are watching, Mr Commissioner

I see where UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson was fined for a breach of his country’s COVID-19 protocols – the Partygate scenario. Kudos to the authorities in that country for showing that persons’ academic qualifications, yachts, land holdings, job titles and bank accounts do not entitle them to preferential treatment, when compared to persons of humble means.

I saw Barbados TODAY’s front page picture and saw Government’s chief legal officer, our attorney general Dale Marshall mask-less in a public place – he and about four or five others. Since they had nothing to do with our recent directives with respect to wearing masks in public and might be totally unaware of the $100 fine, I will give them a pass.

But surely, unless there is some medical reason, I would expect some police officer to be knocking on Mr Marshall’s door anytime soon with photographic evidence of the breach and insisting on the payment of that stupid fine.

Let’s see if the law has a status code. But this is Barbados, not Britain, who am I fooling?
