Luke 10: 25 – 37 says, “Behold a lawyer stood up, to put Him (Jesus) to the test saying; “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” He said to him, (to YOU as well) “What is written in the law? “How do YOU read it?” And He answered, “YOU shall love the Lord YOUR God with all your heart …. and your neighbour as yourself.” Matthew 22: 37-39 “Jesus said unto him, thou shalt love the Lord ….” This is the GREAT 1st commandment and the 2nd commandment is like it, you shall “Love your neighbour as yourself” Beloved, the purpose of my posting is not to spend time giving you MY exegesis of these texts, however, I want to quickly say I believe that, “Jesus did not write a new commandment, but He was summarising the Ten commandments, meaning: the first four is your love towards GOD, and the remaining six is your love towards your neighbour. Do you agree, that in past times, we exhibited a great deal more of love and caring toward our neighbours, especially in our communities? Now to my “wanted” request. I would like us to bring back that community spirit.
