Alicia Das is the owner of Das Tasty Catering Events and Décor a catering business that offers scrumptious restaurant quality food as well as décor and event planning services at an affordable cost. Since starting her business in 2019 she has catered for small, medium and large-scale clients who have given her positive reviews about her catering services.

On July 31st, 2022, she celebrated her third anniversary with her children, friends, family and clients who would have supported her over the years, at Melbourne Inn, Dover, Christ Church.

Family member Sophia Small said she was proud of Alicia as all of her hard work was paying off.

“I am glad that she is expanding and going on with her business. It is [a great feeling]  to see a young person getting through with a [small business] and being successful. I am very happy for her, may she continue to expand and be successful in her future business endeavors,” she said.

Her sentiments were echoed by Joy Edwards who said that she has watched Alicia grow into a successful businesswoman over the years and she could not be happier to be a part of her anniversary celebrations.

“She has continued to show her intelligence, motivation and her commitment to do better and bigger things. I am proud of her, and I would ask her to continue to grow from strength to strength,” she said.

Fellow businessowner Tramaine Griffith who is the owner of Bread Abode also came to give her support to Alicia, stating that three years in a small business is something to be celebrated.

“I am pleased that she has reached this milestone. I really wish her all the best and I hope that she continues to further herself. Reaching three years as a small business is a really big thing. The fact she has been consistent and has gotten to this stage shows that she has put in all of the hard work that is necessary to reach this stage,” she said.

Operations Administrative Assistant at WIBISCO, Kayran Hoyte, was also in attendance and stated that WIBSCO was proud to have worked with Das Tasty Catering Events and Décor as she has always provided excellent service.

“I think the fact Das Tasty Catering Events and Décor is here for another year speaks to the type of business that she is running. She has done three private functions for us, and we had no issues, she was always on time and whatever we wanted she was able to execute for us. Thus far it is a good partnership,”
she said.

Manager of Melbourne Inn, Shonnell Reid, said she was extremely proud of Alicia as she has watched her pour blood, sweat and tears into her business over the years.

“I had the privilege of working with her for our recent event Kids Brunch and Spa which she was the brainchild of and what she did came from the heart. It is good to find a similar personality type for me to bond and mesh with. I am very excited to see what the future holds for her business.

I am all in 100 percent in terms of cheering her on and working with her as best I can. Any events I have she is the caterer, and she knows this,” she said.

The event which started at 5:15pm kicked off with a prayer and then the lady of the hour emerged. Dressed in a sparkling gold mini-dress Alicia Das walked out to cheers and loud response from her family, friends and clients.

Speaking to the media she said that the past three years have been a long and never-ending journey but through it all she has persevered.

“Well, I feel excited that I have reached the three-year mark. It was  not easy getting to this stage, but I am thrilled to have clients as well as family and friends join me today. The journey is a lot of blood, sweat and tears because as a caterer a lot of persons do not see the hard work that goes into it.

I am up early on mornings and late on nights prepping the meals for our clients. I have met a lot of great people along the way and I would say that right now the business is still in its [primary] stage but it is getting there as I have done work for a lot of corporate entities such as Collins Limited, Soil Conservation, Melbourne Inn, WIBSICO and a lot of other clients who wanted their event catered,” she said.

Das who is a former student of Parkinson Memorial Secondary School shared some words of advice for any young person who is seeking to enter the catering profession.

“When you are first starting out ensure it is what you want to do. Because if you go into something that you are unsure about you may give up as that is something that you are unsure about. Make sure you set up a bank account that is separate from your personal account and have fun along the way,” she said.

The event ended with a toast to Das Tasty Catering Events and Décor. From all in attendance the anniversary celebrations were a success, and they said they could not wait to see what the future holds for the business. (Write Right PR Services)
