“Time is the manager of my destination,” so says Michael Rudder. The broader question is, however, is it the manager of your destination.
Indeed, it matters not whether your destination is a specific location, the completion of a tangible or intangible project, a wedding, birthday, memorial or a day of prayer for Divine Love; once you get there – start or endpoint – ou may well celebrate life in some of its many dimensions and attributes.
You may even acknowledge your success or the temporary setback. In fact, we may often have allocated a specific length of time to reach our destination, trusting our arbitrary allocation of time was sufficient.
I would hazard a guess that in nine times out of ten we were not accurate. Is there blame to be apportioned then? Can we fix time simply by resorting to the adage ‘time longer than twine.’
Meaning I suppose, that we do have enough time and we should not be governed by that task master, time.
Do we really have enough time to do, to think, to change with the climate, to change with the earth? Are we masters of time or merely slaves to it? Is it time that we should stop boasting that a Bajan can be found in any part of the world, while too many here in Barbados do not want people from other countries to say that their kinfolk may be found in Barbados – keep them out. Destination strange behaviour!
Is it about time that we should have developed an on-going activity or activities other than Crop Over, such as an ever-changing exhibition which would have the potential to attract visitors all year round.
I have been repeatedly sending such a proposal to governments over many years. Ah well! Destination?
When it’s someone else’s idea, and that’s alright.
I am glad that we are now looking ahead – time wise – to ensure our preparation for a possible tsunami.
I pray it does not happen.
Should we be also looking at earthquake possibilities whose impact may be much more devastating?
Just taking one terrible impact – the disturbance / disruption of many of our household wells some of which are being made more vulnerable because of the wide-spread use of chlorine bleach in our coral stone environment. Destination? Time to reduce use of bleach.
Is it time for the Cricket West Indies to invite at least two women – Deandra Dottin and Hayley Matthews – to join the men’s team. They would become great motivators for the men in the team, I am sure.
Destination? Getting a winning streak. Additional destination? You are rolling around on the ground with laughter until you stop and say to yourself, “Is true.”
Time out folks.
