On Saturday, when most of the Premier League teams were in action, Empire defeated Bagatelle 2-1 thanks to a goal each from Nicholas Jones and Zinio Harris registered in the 30th and 81st minutes respectively. That late goal came at a crucial time because it averted what could have been a possible draw given that Macneil Clarke had scored in the 47th minute for Bagatelle. Another thriller unfolded at the Bagatelle venue with Mavericks edging Hillaby 4-3 compliments of a hat-trick from Rashan Crichlow in the third, 30th and 70th minutes along with one added by Keron Blagrove in the 75th minute. Hillaby’s goal scorers were Keshaune Hurst as early as the first minute while Devonte Munroe (25th) and Shaquan Gill (40th) also scored. Paradise Football Club led by captain and senior national striker Armando ‘Suga’ Lashley were 3-1 winners over St. Andrew Lions. Lashley struck a penalty in the 45th minute along with Akeene Browne with a brace in the 88th and 90th. St. Andrew Lions’ lone goal came from Darico King in the 90+6 minute. At Valery in Brittons Hill, Wotton defeated Silver Sands 4-2 as the talented Kemar John (12th), Keion Harding (31st), Kyle Gibson (55th) and Jabarry Chandler (78th penalty kick) scored. Scoring for Silver Sands were Raequan Jones in the ninth and Derrine Gale-Forde in the 22nd. Weymouth Wales edged Pinelands 2-1 with senior national players Rashad Smith and Hadan Holligan both producing goals. Smith netted in the 32nd minute and Barbados captain Holligan produced the winning goal in the 90+2 minute after Jarad Maxius earlier equalized with a 42nd minute goal for the Pine side. Several other matches continued yesterday in the Republic Cup competition as Red Hill and Hothersal Turning played to a thrilling 5-5 draw at Bridgefield. Caribbean United beat FC Mega Ballers 5-0 in the night cap game. In Speightstown, Deacons trounced Whitehall Football Academy 4-1 and The University of the West Indies hammered Youth Milan 11-1 in their own backyard. At Briar Hall, Greens United dismissed Barbados Fire Service 3-2 while Youngboyz FC and Dayrells Road played to a goalless draw. In the games at Bagatelle, United Stars Alliance outplayed Villa United for a 2-1 win. Meanwhile St. Phillip Football Academy won 2-1 against WRBSSC. The Women’s Super League also continued over the weekend and table leaders Kickstart Genesis on nine points made light work of Technique 4-0 at Bridgefield. FVFC Femeni in second position on a total of seven points got past Pinelands 2-0 at Briar Hall. The UWI Blackbirds who are on six points in third place edged RF Prime 3-2 at Speightstown.
