The Barbados Meteorological Services is closely monitoring the progress of a tropical wave and an associated area of low pressure located near 14.5 N, 45.6 W or about 1510 km or 940 miles to the east of Barbados at 11:00 am.
Models presently are inconsistent with the intensity and forward speed of the system with arrival somewhere near the northern Leewards sometime later this week as the system moves west-northwestward over the next few days.
Regardless of development, this system does not pose any direct threat to Barbados as it passes well north of the island. However, this will result in a reduction in wind speeds, and therefore conditions will remain warm.
Recommendations to the public: The BMS continues to urge persons to, stay alert for updates from the BMS, remain hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Follow guidance from the Ministry of Health and Wellness and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.
The next update will be at 12 noon 14th September 2022. (BMS)
