Video footage was introduced today as the murder trial of Rommel Akeem Cummins continued in the No. 3 Supreme Court.
Lead investigator Sergeant Michael Ifill returned to the witness stand and told the court he had shown the footage to Cummins while he was in police custody.
Cummins, 30, of Vauxhall No. 2 Christ Church, is accused of murdering Dave Archer on June 10, 2019 while aboard the MV DreamChaser, where Archer worked as a security guard.
The 12-member jury was shown video footage of Cummins being interviewed by Ifill and police constable Mervyn Sealy, as well as footage of the car park closest to the MV DreamChaser.
In the more than hour-long interview, Cummins is seen and heard admitting to shooting Archer. When he was told by Ifill that he was suspected to be the person that shot Archer in the abdomen, Cummins replied, “True. I shot the person.”
Cummins is also seen and heard dictating a statement to Ifill, outlining his whereabouts and actions leading up to Archer’s shooting.
The second video showed a motorcycle being driven into the carpark nearest to the MV DreamChaser and MC Buccaneer.
Under questioning from Senior State Counsel Neville Watson, Ifill confirmed that they were the same videos he showed the accused.
Justice Carlisle Greaves adjourned the matter until Wednesday morning when defence counsel Angela Mitchell-Gittens is expected to cross examine Ifill in relation to the video footage.
