Two more COVID-19 deaths; fewer cases recorded

COVID-19 has claimed two more lives in Barbados, bringing the total deaths from the virus to 575.

This is according to the latest COVID-19 dashboard statistics for the February 4-17 period, which reveals that 13 persons were hospitalised.

During the period 211 new cases were recorded made up of 73 males and 138 females. This is a decline from the previous period when 277 new cases were recorded. 

Of the 1 963 persons tested, there were 23 under the age of 18.

Since the onset of the pandemic, Barbados has recorded 106,645 cases; 48,111 males and 58,534 females.

Meanwhile, the number of persons vaccinated with at least one dose stood at 163,833, representing 60.5 percent of the population. Over 155,000 persons are fully vaccinated, a percentage of 57.2 of the population. (JB)
