Goddards Shipping, a leading logistics provider in the Caribbean, and Crowley Logistics, a Florida-based global logistics company, have announced a new partnership to provide enhanced supply chain solutions to customers in the region.
The partnership announced on Wednesday at a ceremony at the Goddard Building in Haggatt Hall, St Michael will enable Goddards Shipping to leverage Crowley Logistics’ worldwide network of agents to offer comprehensive logistics services that include ocean, air, and land transportation, customs brokerage, and warehousing solutions.
The alliance was brokered by Xpress Freight Miami – a non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) owned by Goddards Enterprises – and is expected to create new opportunities for businesses to expand their reach across the Caribbean and beyond.
“Goddards Shipping is excited to partner with Crowley Logistics to offer our customers access to a wider range of logistics services that are supported by a global network of agents,” said General Manager of Goddards Shipping Wendell King.
“We are confident that this partnership will enhance our ability to meet the needs of our customers, and we look forward to working closely with the team at Crowley Logistics.”
Sales Executive at Goddards Shipping, Dennis Sobers added that the partnership was important because of the current cost of inland freight.
“In Barbados, we have so many different options…. The problem comes due to the inland freights because that cost is associated with your cost and you have to pay your duties on that cost, so I believe it is necessary to have a strong team to help you save as much as possible,” he said.
Crowley Logistics expects to benefit from Goddards Shipping’s strong presence in the Caribbean and extensive experience in the region under the agreement.
The company had to pull its vessel from the market due to high costs and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, said Commercial Liaison Manager Andrea Pazzetty, since restarting as a logistics company, Crowley has been able to ensure locals get their cargo on time and at better rates.
“We have the capability for US inland services for your LCL [Less than Container-Load] cargo. This means that we have several companies in the US that are affiliated with us in order to provide this move from any inland point in the United States to our Miami warehouse and then to Barbados,” she explained.
