In recognising the close connection Barbados shares with Panama, three lucky winners are now heading to the beautiful, historic Panama City in a couple of days thanks to Capital Media HD 99.3 and a number of title sponsors.
The winners are Sabrina Lee, Keisha James and Jade Cossey.
Speaking during a special presentation on Friday evening at the Park Cafe, Perronne Village, Christ Church, was Chairman of Capital Media Vic Fernandes who recalled the important relationship Barbados shares with Panama.
“Panama and Barbados have a really close connection. Some of you who are really young won’t know this but I knew it from things that I picked up at school. There is a strong link between the Barbados economy and how Panama was built because in the early 1900s, people went to Panama to help build the Panama Canal and so when you go to the Panama Canal remember that many went there and many lost their lives there too as well. Barbadians went there and made that sacrifice, which is really an utterly amazing thing.”
Meanwhile, Chief Operations Officer of Capital Media HD 99.3 Rebecca Fernandes said she was extremely excited for the participants to explore Panama.
“Thank you for coming and taking the time out to make a celebration out of this competition. I get to be excited by a proxy because I get to talk to all of you winners who [have been] saying that you’re so excited and ready to go, that you can’t wait to go to Panama and that‘s the idea behind this,” she said.
Title sponsors for the promotion include Copa Airlines, which the participants will be travelling on, The National Cultural Foundation, Coca-Cola No Sugar, The Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc, and Going Places Travel. (MR)
