Manager Myrico Morris told Barbados TODAY the former championship team was rebirthed and rebranded recently after being out of the Barbados Amateur Basketball Association’s (BABA) tournament for the past four seasons. “This 15-man squad has been rebuilt over the past two years with the support of coach Kevin Mason, captain Stefan Clarke, and Darian Dawson. Donned in a new brilliant blue kit designed by player Jevon Lashley, this team has officially revived competitive basketball in St John. The last time the Sonics played was in 2018,” he said, adding that he had high hopes for the team and planned to develop a female squad as well. “I hope we can reintroduce the togetherness, camaraderie and community engagement St John’s basketball established many years ago. starting with the men’s team.
