The event, widely regarded as the unofficial start to the Crop Over season, saw long queues of traffic approaching from both directions for its 4 a.m. scheduled start. The sold-out fรชte, held at a new, expansive venue, welcomed attendees with branded paraphernalia upon arrival. Whilst earlier rains left some areas muddy, partygoers found ample space to set up, with windy conditions offering respite from the sun. A selection of Barbadosโ top chefs, including Creig Greenidge, Marvin Applewhaite and Trevon Stoute, manned food stations, ensuring a variety of culinary delights. Premium drinks were readily available from multiple bars, whilst a coconut water station catered to those seeking refreshment. A dedicated โsober zoneโ provided a comfortable retreat for those needing a break. Despite some initial sound system issues, a lineup of top DJs kept the crowd entertained until live performances began, backed by Darrien Baileyโs band. Mikey thrilled with both old favourites and 2024 releases, including H.O.T.P. (Heart of the Party) and Obsession. Rupeeโs appearance sparked hysteria, as he delivered classics such as Insomnia and Tempted to Touch, alongside his new release Trust Issues. The artist paid tribute to his late friend, Dr Donna Matthew, before concluding with I am a Bajan. Speaking post-event, organising committee member Terencia TC Coward-Thompson revealed considerations to make the new venue their permanent home. She highlighted the emphasis on branding for the 10th instalment: โWe wanted to upgrade the entire setting, and try to raise the level of what we were offering to patrons with the various add-ons.โ โWe wanted to use the best of what Barbados had to provide,โ she added, noting the inclusion of top-rated chefs and a live band among the eventโs enhancements.
