The goals keep rolling in as four more teams have progressed to the Round of 16 in the  Prime Minister’s Cup semi-professional football tournament, following an exciting weekend of action.

In the final Group D matches last Friday at Passage Road, Technique Club secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Checker Hall in the night’s feature game.

Midfielder Kiron Quimby opened the scoring early for Technique, netting in the fourth minute with a finish near post. However, Checker Hall quickly responded with an equaliser from Jevere Cumberbatch in the 22nd minute, bringing the score to 1-1.

The tightly contested match was eventually decided in the dying moments when defender Jonathan Clarke found the back of the net in the 89th minute, sealing a good win for Division Two team Technique.

With this result, Technique advanced to the Round of 16, joining tournament favourites Weymouth Wales with another incredible performance.

Playing the first match of the evening, Weymouth Wales demonstrated their dominance with a commanding 4-0 victory over newly promoted Barbados Football Association team Abrahams United Silver Sands.

Right-winger Jante James shone for Wales, scoring twice in the 5th and 59th minutes. Janash Jaunai added to the tally with a goal in the 31st minute, while striker Zeco Edmee sealed the victory with a goal in the 60th minute.

Despite the absence of some top players, including former Barbados Captain and attacking midfielder Hadan Holligan, Wales, coached by Carlos Jackman, expertly controlled the midfield and exploited their chances inside the box.

On Sunday at Haynesville, St James, two more Premiership teams, Ellerton Football Club and Brittons Hill, secured their places in the Round of 16 following a top two finish in Group E.

Brittons Hill booked their passage 2-0 over Greens United, with midfielder Ray Snagg netting twice in the 14th and 38th minutes.

Snagg and fellow attackers Rommell Bynoe and Corey Hoyte were instrumental in causing some level of headache for Greens United, saved by goalkeeper Kevin Barton with some really good saves.

Ellerton in the other match crushed Maxwell FC 9-1, with four goals from attacking midfielder scoring in the 4th, 6th, 53rd and 68th minutes.

Rosean Brathwaite scored twice in the 2nd and 59th minute along with Mario Harte adding a brace to his name in the 14th and 51st minute and midfielder Jaheim Headley made it nine goals in the 65th minute. Tyriq Holder scored a goal for Maxwell in the 86th minute but it was in vain.
