The lawyer for a man accused of fatally stabbing his uncle during the viewing of his father’s body wants security camera footage from the funeral home where the incident took place.
King’s Counsel Michael Lashley served notice of his intention to obtain that “crucial” evidence when his client, Rommel Andre Williams, appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
Williams, a 42-year-old bartender from 2nd Avenue Edey Village, Christ Church is accused of murdering his 63-year-old uncle Trevor Bradshaw on October 25. He was not required to plead to the indictable charge.
Bradshaw was killed outside Paramount Funeral Home where he and other family members went to view the body of his brother, Erwin Bradshaw, who was Williams’ father.
Speaking before Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes, Lashley said his investigations revealed that there were several cameras at the funeral home, and requested that police investigators provide any footage of the incident.
“The defence would need the footage of what happened on the day. That is crucial to our defence, Sir,” the senior attorney said. “So I am putting the prosecution on notice that we will be making an application for it because I believe that they would have footage of what took place.”
Williams was remanded into custody until November 28.
