Customers in Christ Church, St Philip, St George, St Thomas and St John lost electricity supply around 4 p.m. as a result of what the Barbados Light and Power Company explained was a fault on the 24 KV transmission line near St. Barnabas, St Michael. This also impacted the Central Substation. Reports from the Pine, St Michael said residents reported hearing a transformer exploding on a pole just outside the Parkinson Memorial School. The power company said the matter would be fully investigated. “Light & Power’s protective systems activated promptly to isolate the fault, preventing more customer outages across the island,” it said in an update.
