Flash-Flood Watch upgraded to Warning as heavy showers continue

The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) has upgraded the Flash-Flood Watch to a Flash-Flood Warning as a tropical wave continues to affect the island.

Officials said that heavy, intermittent showers throughout Friday could lead to flash-flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas across Barbados. The warning was issued at 9:05 a.m. today, Friday, October 31, 2025, and will remain in effect until 6 p.m. or until conditions improve.

The BMS has forecast between two to three inches of rainfall today and into tonight, with an improvement expected by Saturday, November 1. The department has warned that the conditions could cause soil erosion on bare or sloped land, water settling on roads and fields, delays in traffic, and an increase in the levels of ponds and drainage systems. Residents may also see minor flooding on roads and properties.

People are advised to monitor updates from the Barbados Meteorological Services, the Department of Emergency Management, and the Government Information Service through official websites, social media pages, and local news networks.

The BMS reminded the public that a Flash-Flood Warning means flooding from heavy rainfall is already occurring or is likely to happen soon, generally within two hours.
