Frederick Smith Secondary School strengthened their grip on the League Two standings of the Barbados Secondary Schools Football League Under-19 Competition, edging out hosts Lester Vaughan School 3-2 in Cane Garden, St Thomas.

Even though Lester Vaughan used home turf to their advantage on Monday afternoon and secured the leading goal thanks to Dimiko Jordan, the visitors Frederick Smith found their attacking groove and responded when Jaden Marshall found the equaliser.

Both teams offered strong attacking efforts, but Lester Vaughan, at times, were unable to control the run of play and oftentimes missed the ball. This allowed the boys from Trent’s in St James to go on and score another two goals registered by Keon Bishop-Estwick.

Lester Vaughan did manage to score a second goal of the afternoon, thanks to Rajae Thompson, but it was not enough to earn those three match points.

Frederick Smith remains top of the standings on 16 points, and Deighton Griffith Secondary School (14). Meanwhile, there is a three-way tie between Lester Vaughan, Ellerslie School, and Grantley Adams Memorial, all on 13 points.

The Ellerslie School were victorious 5-1 when they hosted the Christ Church Foundation School.

Led by a brace from Kobe Shaw, Ellerslie stamped their authority at home, with contributions from Malichi Haniff, Keshawn Alexander and Aidan Jordan.

Deighton Griffith Secondary slammed Barbados Youth Advance Corp 7-1 with a hat trick special from Zayvion Welch, with goals accounted for in the 30th, 37th and 63rd minutes. The other goal scorers were Kai Knight (9th), Tyniko Bradshaw (46th), Kaiden Collymore-Hurdle (52nd), and Joel Lovell (60th).

Coleridge and Parry Secondary School also had a great showing on the field, thrashing Barbados Vocational Training Board (BVTB) 4-1. Doing the business for the boys from St Peter was Zoweh Holmes, Shamari Greene, Jayden Nicholls and Zion Greene. The lone goal scorer for BVTB was Jamarco Reece.

Daryll Jordan Secondary School edged Princess Margaret Secondary 3-1.

Anderson Graham of Daryll Jordan, along with Ajani Griffith and Kareem Springer each put up a goal. For the St Phillip based Princess Margaret, Zachary Layne netted a consolation goal.
