Doyle, of Leinster Road, Waterford, St Michael, was convicted of murdering Victor Watson, 39, formerly of Lower Deacons Road, on December 3, 2021, at 1st Avenue, Godding Road, Station Hill. Acting Director of Public Prosecutions Alliston Seale SC, Principal State Counsel Rudolph Burnett and State Counsel Paul Prescod prosecuted the case while Senior Counsel Angella Mitchell-Gittens represented the now convicted man. He said: “The reason I need the transcripts is to know everything that was said at trial, so that when I have my pre-sentencing hearing, when you ask if I have anything to say, I will be able to present my testimonial statement appropriately.” Justice Laurie-Ann Smith Bovell stated that she had told him on each occasion that he needed to contact his attorney, who would have received copies of the documents. After he insisted that the transcripts were necessary for his defence, the judge told him: ‘Your defence period is finished, Mr Doyle. You have already been found guilty.” She informed him that he would have an opportunity to address the court before the prosecution and defence made submissions regarding his sentence. “I have told you that your attorney has the transcript,” she said, adjourning the case until May 5, adding, “That will give you enough time to speak to your attorney.” (JB) Jenique Belgrave You may also like Minister Archer calls for greater role for small states in global development 19/04/2026 MSMEs urged to strengthen structure and planning for survival 19/04/2026 Cancer charity stresses no discrimination in services 19/04/2026
