A Bush Hall man who admitted assaulting a supermarket security guard while intoxicated on Tuesday is to be sentenced in August.

Attributing his boisterous behaviour and assault of a security guard to his being โ€œunder alcoholโ€, Kyshur Dujon Hamilton Morris now has to return to the District โ€˜Aโ€™ Magistratesโ€™ Traffic Court for sentencing.

The 43-year-old of Accommodation Road, Bush Hall, appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Douglas Frederick and pleaded guilty to assaulting Wayne Bynoe, occasioning him actual bodily harm, and that having lawfully entered upon the premises of Channell Enterprises Limited, he misconducted himself by behaving in a threatening manner.

The court heard that Bynoe, who is employed as a security guard at the supermarket, was drawn to the entrance of the establishment due to loud voices. On approach, he saw the accused standing at the entrance, shouting at the top of his lungs into the supermarket. He approached Morris and told him about his behaviour. The accused became boisterous, causing the staff to become afraid, and he was asked to leave the supermarket. Morris became annoyed and cuffed the complainant in the right eye, injuring him. The police were called, and he was arrested. During his interview with police, Morris told the officers, โ€œI was under alcoholโ€.

A medical report showed that Bynoe suffered soft tissue damage to his right eye and the right side of his neck.

A pre-sentence report was ordered, along with drug counselling through the Probation Department. Morris was released on $1 500 bail and was warned not to trespass on the supermarketโ€™s premises. He was ordered to return to court on August 18.
