The 27-year-old, of Bournes Land, Christ Church, appeared before Magistrate Jared Richards and admitted to having the offensive weapon in a public place on September 17. PC Troy Tudor told the District โAโ Traffic Court that police on duty on Thursday evening saw Brathwaite and another person arguing. The other man walked away, but Brathwaite went back to the ZR van and armed himself with a silver-handled knife. After the officers intervened, the accused got into the vehicle and drove off, but was stopped on River Road. Brathwaite told the court that the man had slapped him in the face and that this was when he went for the knife. Noting that Brathwaite had previously been ordered to receive anger-management counselling in another case, Magistrate Richards said it appeared as though he needed a refresher course.ย He ordered Brathwaite to pay the fine in one month or spend 10 days behind bars.
