Students of Christ Church Foundation School have continued to be beacons on the hill as their Builders Club which consists of students from first to third form made a donation to the Barbados Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) on March 26 as a part of the club’s week of activities.

Speaking to the media Kiwanis advisor Cidgred Cummings said that the donation was initially because
the students were eager to volunteer but because of the COVID-19 restrictions the students pivoted and decided to raise funds to donate to the RSPCA instead.

“Rendering service to home, school and community is something that as a student-led service Club, the members of the Christ Church Foundation School Builders Club are encouraged to do.

The students are an eager and enthusiastic group who are always willing to serve. The current COVID-19 restrictions were somewhat of a damper for these animal-loving students in terms of their inability to volunteer at the RSPCA.

Nevertheless, they decided that if they could not volunteer, then they would find another way of giving back and they pooled their money along with a monetary donation from the Christ Church Foundation Key Club and they were able to purchase cat and dog food, bowls, toys and collars for the animals,” she said.

Receiving the donation was manager of the RSPCA Charmaine Hatcher who expressed appreciation for the thoughtfulness of the students in thinking of the welfare of the animals at the facility.
