Nigel Newton UPP Candidate for St. Philip North is a retired Probation Officer. During his tenure he provided Pastoral care to many persons who had no religious affiliation. He was also passionate about assisting and guiding young persons who found themselves before the Courts or incarcerated. His experiences in the Justice System afforded him unique opportunities to conduct a philosophical analyse of the critical issuesdevastating our families, communities and nation. Completed research documents include topics such as ‘The Challenges and Responsibilities of Manhood: Empowering Males for Authentic Existence,’ Inculcating a culturally Relevant Education for Crime Reduction in Barbados, and Self-Contempt: A Fault-line in African-Caribbean Identity. Nigel is a Part time Tutor of Ethics and Citizenship at the Barbados Community College. He holds an Associate Degree in Mass Communication and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy. Nigel is committed to the preservation and defense of Barbadian heritage.
