PwC East Caribbean welcomes new leaders

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has welcomed three new engagement leaders to its Eastern Caribbean operation – trained accountant Shivanan Deopd and advisory specialists Lisa Taylor and Craig Waterman.

Mike Bynoe, Territory Leader, PwC East Caribbean said the addition will result in a tremendous benefits to its tax and advisory services.

“Our tax practice will certainly benefit from Mr Deopersad’s wealth of experience. We welcome Shivanan as a valuable addition to the tax team and the firm, and look forward to further expanding our tax practice,” said Bynoe.

Also welcoming Lisa and Craig, who have built a renowned reputation in the industry, Bynoe said he was delighted they were rejoining the firm.

“PwC is a lifelong experience and we are delighted they are re-joining us having been part of our diverse and talented alumni network. They too will be an invaluable asset to our growing advisory practice and will help us to expand our service offerings in the area of deals,” said Bynoe

“As PwC works together with clients in a post COVID world, having Lisa, Craig and Shivanan join the team will be a great asset,” he added.

Taylor has over 25 years of experience in advisory services working in Canada and Barbados. In her most recent role at KPMG she was Managing Partner and Advisory leader. Taylor has extensive experience in the provision of services in the areas of restructuring, insolvency, corporate finance, valuations, litigation support, forensics, feasibility studies, financial modelling and transaction services.

Earlier in her career she spent time at KPMG in Canada and at PwC East Caribbean as an Advisory Director.

In her new role at the firm her focus will be on expanding PwC’s capabilities and service offerings in her areas of expertise.

Waterman has an equally extensive background in advisory services and joins Taylor as a Partner in the Advisory practice. Waterman has 18 years of experience in providing restructuring services which include business reviews, court appointed liquidations, private appointment receiverships by secured lenders and leading companies through a bankruptcy process.

He rejoins PwC and will focus on expanding the firm’s service offerings within the wider Caribbean.

Deopersad brings over 20 years of experience in tax advisory and tax compliance to the tax team.

Deopersad previously led Deloitte’s tax practice in Trinidad focusing on corporation and income tax, tax advice in the areas of policy and legislation and tax audits.

Throughout his career he has spent time at various accountancy firms including PwC Trinidad and Tobago where he started in the assurance practice before moving to the tax practice.

He has been part of the alumni network ever since. In his role at PwC East Caribbean his focus will be on tax advisory, though where necessary, he will support the team on tax compliance, strengthening our East Caribbean reach, the company announced. (PR/MM)
