PR competition to create ‘her-story’

Female entrepreneurs who need help on their business journey are encouraged to enter ‘PRescription for Success’, a competition with a purpose. Launched on International Women’s Day by Michelle Doyle PR in association with Fund Access, the competition offers prizes worth $10, 500.

As a result of the pandemic and a downturn in the market the competition is mainly to help those female entrepreneurs who continually fight to make their business successful.

Having the right mindset, tools and presentation are important aspects of a business. This can come at a huge financial cost and decisions need to be made where that money would be best spent in the business.

‘PRescription for Success’ bridges that gap as a competition with prizes for the mind, body and business from sponsors, specifically selected as they are female-owned or run businesses.

The grand prize winner will receive a motivational coaching session (International Coach Dr SherryAnn Dixon), shungite detox foot treatment and body massage (Nzuri Eco Retreat), personalised yoga session (JenZen Wellness), a HIIT session (Dr Zahra Lashley), a staycation for two (Shades Barbados) with breakfast (Coconut Baby Barbados), photoshoot (Tribe Evolution) with makeup (Colour Coded Makeup) and wardrobe (Intermixz & The 5thElement Experience), gourmet chocolate and edible arrangement (JEMS Barbados), a giftset & scented candle ( Hello Naturalle), an IT session Deborah King), one to one PR Mastermind session (It’s Michelle Doyle PR), one month vendor space (Holder’s Farmers Market) and vendor space (Kloth PopUp shop in June 2022).

Gift certificates (Coconut Baby Barbados & Plant Lyfe), a pedicure (Unique Nails Designs), meal for two (Bliss Cafe), a personalised mug and double-sided keyring (Personalise It!) are also to be won each week during March in weekly IG LIVE conversations.

Certified massage therapist and holistic coach Leah Clarke will feature at 8 p.m. today, and on March 30 Karen Sue, senior business development officer, Fund Access, will be the personality at 8 p.m.

Entrants to the competition must be female entrepreneurs, aged 18 and over and live in Barbados.

They must follow ‘itsmichelledoyle’ on social media platform Instagram and click the link in the bio to answer a short form. Sponsors of the competition must also be followed. Deadline is Thursday, 31 March 2022.

Doyle, also known as Your PR Doctor, is a public relations specialist and creator of the competition. She explained how drained she felt at the beginning of the year. While being there for her clients, she simply tapped out of her business.

She was tired, and in speaking to a number of entrepreneurs they were also. In thinking how to address this imbalance, she spoke to a few sponsors and within two weeks a number of prizes were donated.

“We as female entrepreneurs have a different set of demands placed on us, both business and personal, and it affects us in a number of ways.

“Ironically, most of us are one-man bands, who just need that extra support whether we are new start-ups or established businesses. The response to my request was quite humbling, I want to thank the sponsors for believing in me and my vision and coming on-board at such short notice, to participate in this spectacular competition,” Doyle said.

“We at Fund Access are always proud to support entrepreneurs. However, particularly in celebration of Women’s History Month and under the guidance of a female CEO, we are pleased to lend our support for this competition which aims to uplift female entrepreneurs.

“Additionally, if there are females with existing businesses or start-ups or who have an idea and are unsure of the next step, we are here to provide financing and to guide you along your entrepreneurial journey,” Sue said.

Doyle is a marketing communications professional with over 20 years experience in the UK and on her return to Barbados, she worked on various communications projects. She specialises in public relations and works with entrepreneurs who don’t know how to promote themselves effectively. While hosted on Instagram, the competition is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by or associated with the platform. (PR)
