GAIA to close at 6 pm as Tropical Storm Bret approaches Barbados

Members of the travelling public are asked to note that the Grantley Adams International Airport will close today at 6:00 p.m.

Barbados is presently under a storm warning as Tropical Storm Bret continues to approach the island chain.

The Barbados Meteorological Services today cautioned that the island should expect sustained winds ranging between 35 to 45 miles per hour and gusts estimated at between 50 and 60 miles per hour this evening.

As a result, the decision was made to close the airport.
