Sada Williams books spot in women’s 400m semifinals at the World Athletics Championship

Sada Williams has qualified for the semifinals of the women’s 400 meters at the World Athletics Championships.

Running in Heat 3, the Barbadian clocked a breezy 50.78 seconds to be a comfortable winner and qualify for Monday’s second round.

Mexico’s Paola Moran finished in 51.59 to finish second and South Africa’s Zeney van Der Walt who was third in 51.78.

The top three qualifiers from each heat progress to the semifinals along with the next six fastest times.

However, the news was not so good for Barbados’ two other representatives at the Championships, Jonathan Jones and DaSean Boyce, who both failed to make it out of the opening round of the men’s 400 meters.

Competing in Heat 3, Jones ran a pedestrian 46.03 seconds to finish seventh, while Boyce pulled up in Heat 5 and did not finish the race. (RB)
