Diamonds International and Rotary Club of Barbados West announce the return of charity golf tournament 2023

Diamonds International, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Barbados West, is thrilled to announce the highly anticipated return of the Diamonds International and Rotary Club of Barbados West Charity Golf Tournament.

Scheduled for Sunday, October 8th, 2023 at the prestigious Royal Westmoreland Golf Course, this event promises to be a day of golf, philanthropy, and community spirit.

The tournament, initiated in partnership with Rotary Club West, has been a longstanding tradition, with over 18 consecutive annual tournaments, interrupted only by the COVID-19 Pandemic.

After a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic, we are pleased to announce that our annual Rotary West Diamonds International Charity Golf Classic will be returning to Royal Westmoreland Golf Club on Sunday, October 8, 2023.

Throughout the years, this remarkable collaboration has raised substantial funds exceeding $2.5 million to support various noble causes in Barbados. Notably, these contributions facilitated the original refurbishment of the Pediatric Ward at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), the enhancement of the Medical Intensive Care Unit and establishing the Renal Dialysis Unit, that provides free dialysis services to the Barbados public.

Other initiatives supported include the Ellen Steinbok Hearing Project, which provides free hearing tests and treatment to approximately 2,000 children in primary schools in Barbados and aiding at-risk youth through the Nature Fun Ranch. Our scholarship fund continues to grant scholarships to students facing financial challenges in attending the University of the West Indies among other impactful endeavours that have left a lasting mark on the community.

Jacob Hassid, Managing Director of Diamonds International, expressed his deep gratitude, emphasising the significance of this ongoing partnership with Rotary Barbados.

He acknowledged the remarkable journey from inception, only interrupted briefly by the COVID-19 Pandemic. This steadfast collaboration has amassed funding for crucial ventures, and he attributed this success to the unwavering support of long standing partners and the warm reception extended to new companies joining this year. Their combined efforts have created a meaningful and enduring impact on Barbados. Thank you for your ongoing support.

Net proceeds from this year’s Golf Classic will be used substantially to continue our support of the work of Nature Fun Ranch as well as help identify and provide support to students diagnosed with dyslexia. Unfortunately, the at-risk youth population in Barbados is growing, resulting in an increasing demand for the intervention services of the Nature Fun Ranch. Likewise, dyslexia is a very common learning disability which remains largely undiagnosed.

The Diamonds International and Rotary Club of Barbados West Charity Golf Tournament has become a symbol of unity and community involvement in Barbados. The tournament brings together local businesses, organizations, and golf enthusiasts to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need.

This year, with the support of both longtime partners and new participants, the event is expected to reach new heights in terms of fundraising and community engagement. Participants can look forward to a day of friendly competition on the greens, all while knowing they are contributing to the betterment of Barbados.
